Tattoo, skin deep
As I was sitting in the tattoo parlor staring at the pictures and designs on the wall I could hear the clicking noise of the needle piercing through my skin. I was getting a tattoo on my right arm. It was tattoo of a Black Panther. I had seen a special program on panthers in Discovery Channel and had decided to get one on my arm. I wanted to get a tattoo for a long time, but I didn’t know what design or color to get until I saw the program. I was inspired to get my tattoo by learning about how the Panther behaves and lives his life. People have their own reasons to get a tattoo. Tattoos are a sign of self-proclamation through their designs, color and significance.
When I walked in the tattoo parlor for my appointment to get a Panther design tattooed on my right arm. I was amazed by hundreds of designs in the store. The walls were decorated from top to bottom with all sorts and types of tattoo design. They also had many magazines, folders and books of tattoo designs. Design is what makes getting tattoo so unique. You can choose your tattoo design from within the store or you can bring one from outside. I have many tattoos on my arms and my back. One of them is tattoo of a Panther. Although they had many types of Panthers designs to choose from in the store, I decided to get this particular design that I had seen in a magazine.
In addition to design, color is another important aspect of a tattoo. Coloring in a tattoo adds more character and live to it. The amount and variety of color in a tattoo will depend on the design. Some tattoos do not require any coloring except black, but other may require many colors. For instance, my tattoo, the Panther required three colors, black, red and white. The black is covering most of the tattoo including the outlines; red for its claws and white for the teeth. When you look at my tattoo, the colors are clearly distinguishable adding texture and live to the tattoo.
Further more, one the most important reason someone gets a tattoo is to express his or her significance. Each tattoo characterizes interests, feelings, ideas and how someone wants to be seen as person. How many of you seen someone with a tattoo of a tear under their eye? Now how many of you know what that actually means? The tears under the eyes mean that you’ve either killed someone or someone very close to has died. Regardless of what kind of tattoo someone gets, the tattoo will be significant to that individual.
Getting tattoo has become a trend in the 21st century. Once a person decides to get a tattoo, there are thousands of designs in many colors to choose from. Everyone has his or her own basis of getting a tattoo. Some people get tattoo just because they like the drawings and color coordination of a tattoo. Regardless of the motivation, a tattoo is a representation of uniqueness about a person. And how he or she feels they portray themselves to the outside world. With everyone coming up with new ideas and different ways of expressing themselves, it can only make you wonder what will be next.
